The first Saturday of each month is Community Open Mic night, a SoulFood tradition, and also a wildly popular and well-attended event. So that each person has time to shine, we ask that each act perform only 3 songs/poems or 15 minutes total stage time, including setup and breakdown. This event runs from 6-9pm. This process echoes the sense of community and connection that is central to SoulFood Books, brings in new voices, and helps to create harmony or contrast in our reading series.
