Volunteer Mountain Work Days will once again utilize pre-registration and limit the total group size. Space is extremely limited, don’t wait, register online! Any minors that register must be at least 12 years of age, accompanied by their legal guardian/parent throughout the day, no dogs or swinging tools (hatchet, axe, maul) are allowed. Take a foliage lift ride on America’s favorite Single Chair, first chair up is at 10 AM and the last chair is loaded at 2:30 PM. Foliage lift ride tickets are good for a round trip from base to summit and back down again, the cost is $20 for adults and $15 for juniors and seniors (free for season pass holders and shareholders in good standing). The Mad River Valley Backcountry Coalition (MRVBC) has partnered again with Kel Rossiter of Adventure Spirit to offer a 1-day workshop on backcountry fundamentals. The BC Primer will be an all-day workshop held at the Mad River Glen @ the Cricket Club and on the mountain on Saturday, November 7th. The course topics will help those who are newer to backcountry skiing/riding feel more comfortable going out into the deep woods of our region in search of untracked snow. Since 1979, the Waitsfield Elementary School Ski & Skate Sale has been outfitting everyone for winter and is the longest-running sale in the Mad River Valley. December 11, 1948 Mad River Glen opened to the public for the first time, whisking skiers 2000 vertical feet to the summit of Stark Mountain on the Single. The American Steel & Wire Company had installed nearly 600 of these state-of-the-art aerial tramway systems across the country and together with Roland Palmedo brought lift-served skiing to the Mad River Valley.
