A community Juneteenth Gathering will be held at the Farmer’s Market Pavilion in Eugene from 3 to 7 pm on Friday, June 19th. Juneteenth honors the end of slavery in the United States and celebrates the history, resilience, and achievements of African Americans. The Mt. Pisgah Arboretum is hosting two free special events this Summer at their White Oak Pavilion for members, volunteers, supporters, and fans. One is a Summer Celebration on Tuesday, June 23 from 5:30 to 8:00 pm. There will be food, drink, and presentations by two birding experts. The second is a celebration of their 50th year, on Sunday, August 13, from 5 to 8:30 pm. Volunteers will be honored and successes will be highlighted.
The Eugene Pride celebration is on Saturday, June 27th at the Lane Events Center from 11 am to 7 pm. The event includes live entertainment, food and drinks, family activities, and exhibits from vendors and community resources. A march begins at 10 am from Kesey Square to the event. The Oregon Asian Celebration is on Saturday, July 18th in Alton Baker Park from 10 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Admission is free to this commemoration of the Year of the Horse. The event opens with the traditional Chinese Lion Dance to scare away the evil spirits and usher in a day of good fortune. The Samba percussion festival is on August 1 from 11 am to 5 pm at the Eugene Riverfront Park. This free event features performances from 4 West Coast drum groups playing Brazilian Samba. More information

Lane County Senior and Disability Services hosts the annual “Race for the Rest of Us” on Sunday, August 2nd, from noon to 2 pm. In-person participants are invited to walk, run, roll, push, or pull for a half kilometer, about one third of a mile, at Public House at 418 A Street in Springfield. The Junction City free Scandinavian Festival is August 13 through 16, with entertainment, food, and nonprofit vendors all 4 days. The Scandia Run is on August 15, with 5K, 10K, and 4-mile walk and run courses weaving through the outskirts of Junction City into farmlands.
