UPSTATE ART WEEKEND (UPAW) is a connective annual event, for residents and tourists alike, celebrating the cultural vibrancy of Upstate New York. The fifth edition of UPAW will take place Thursday, July 18, through Sunday, July 21, 2024, spanning ten counties in the Catskills Mountains and Hudson Valley. ​ UPAW launched in 2020 with 23 participants, expanding to over 145 this year, welcoming thousands of visitors to the region. Come see some performance art on the street as artists respond to poetry read aloud. As the poet reads their poem, the artist will paint what they heard in the words.  The poet stops, the artists continue while a musician interprets what they see and hear.  2 artists for each poet.  3 poets.  Food and drink are available at the Bean Runner Cafe. ​ I will be responding to poet Paul Stark as he reads about his battle with cancer at around 3pm.
