Sir John Akomfrah CBE RA (born 4 May 1957) is a Ghanaian-born British artist, writer, film director, screenwriter, theorist, and curator of Ghanaian descent. He is known for his powerful art films and multi-screen video installations, which explore major issues such as racial injustice, colonialism, and memory. He was recently knighted in the 2023 UK Honours list.
